Nue Products: American Academy of Dermatology Recommends Broad-Spectrum Coverage
PRBuzz PR / Press releases

As many consumers browse for sunscreen products this summer, the American Academy of Dermatology is reminding people of proper requirements and application. Nue Products, an anti-aging skin-care company, endorses these guidelines.

New York, New York, (PRBuzz.com) August 17, 2012 -- As typical with each summer, Americans have embraced the warm weather to head out for beach vacations, poolside relaxation and other outdoor activities. While the summer sun is inviting, many are not aware of how harmful UV rays can be to skin. Those that are prone to sunburn or are proactive about sun protection may be misinformed by the many products that swarm the market, as noted by a recent article from HealthDay. While many consumers believe that certain products with specific SPF ratings are safe, the American Academy of Dermatology notes that many are not aware of how to choose adequate sunscreens or how to apply it. While the AAD stresses the importance of sun protection to battle against skin cancer risks, cosmetic company Nue Products also adds that unprotected exposure to the sun can lead to premature aging.

In the article, dermatologist Dr. Henry Lim observes, "Consumers can be overwhelmed by the large number of sunscreen products available and because of that they avoid using sunscreen all together, resulting in sunburn and overexposure to the sun's ultraviolet radiation." Lim recommends that every individual consult with their dermatologist on what products address the needs of their skin to maintain a healthy and youthful appearance. In a recent press statement, Nue Products adds, "The sun is the number one cause of skin damage and aging. We commend the AAD for increasing the awareness that keeps us looking younger, and more importantly, keeps our skin safe."

For proper skin protection the AAD recommends that people use products with an SPF that is 30 or greater. As many individuals fail to reapply sunscreen after getting wet in the summer, the AAD also endorses products that are water resistant. In terms of application, the AAD suggests that users reapply sunscreen products every two hours. In a recent online survey, the organization discovered that only 28 percent of respondents were aware of such re-application practices.

In addition, the article sheds light on a little known distinction among sunscreen products; it encourages greater use of broad-spectrum coverage products that are designed to provide protection against both UVA and UVB exposure. Nue Products supports such claims and notes that its line of anti-aging Cell Revivalâ„¢ products is designed with such protection in mind. The Zinc and Titanium Broad Spectrum SPF in Nue Products' Age Defense Moisturizer reduces the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging, as well as helps prevent sunburn.
